ASSESSORS: A special report

The Herald Bulletin

The number of assessors in Indiana will decrease from 1,100 to 92 county assessors and 42 township assessors. The reduction, effective Tuesday, includes the elimination of 13 township posts in Madison County. Township assessor powers transfer to county auditors in townships in which the number of parcels is less than 15,000. That leaves Anderson Township as the only post remaining in Madison County; however, that could change in a public referendum.
