Men caught in connection with The Shed robbery

By Jessica Kerman

Anderson police arrested two men following the armed robbery of an Anderson clothing store.

William Walton, 19, and Aaron Berry, 18, were both arrested at the Anderson Police Department early Saturday morning on suspicion of armed robbery of The Shed, a men’s clothing store located on Scatterfield Road, according to police reports.

Walton was arrested on suspicion of robbery while armed, a Class B felony, and a probation violation. He is being held at the Madison County Jail with no bond. Berry was arrested on suspicion of robbery while armed, a Class B felony, battery, a Class A misdemeanor and resisting law enforcement, a Class A misdemeanor. His bond was set at $20,000.

Officers were called to The Shed, 509 S. Scatterfield Road, at about 8 p.m. Friday after a pair of men robbed the store at gunpoint. Sgt. William Casey said Friday that the men entered the store and one immediately pulled out a handgun. The second then entered and quickly searched the store to make sure the only people in the business were two female employees.

Walton was on probation for a conviction of Class D felony theft. According to court documents, he was placed on three years of probation in connection with a theft in December 2007.

The amount stolen was undisclosed on Friday night. Sgt. Shawn Richwine said detectives were still investigating the robbery and did not want to release any more information on Saturday.
