ANDERSON — Nestlé is expected to make an announcement at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Anderson facility, according to Nestle spokeswoman Pam Krebs.
According to sources who did not want to be identified, the announcement could concern the expansion of Nestlé’s Anderson facility and additional jobs.
The sources say Gov. Mitch Daniels is expected to be at Nestlé Tuesday, but his office spokeswoman, Jane Jankowski, would only confirm that the governor will be in east central Indiana next week for jobs announcements.
Nestlé is expected to notify media outlets on Monday about the announcement, according to Krebs.
A media representative for the city of Anderson would not confirm the Nestlé announcement.
Nestlé, which is expected to hold its grand opening in Anderson in October, went before the Anderson Board of Zoning Appeals in June to request a special exception for expansion.
“We’re just doing it before we need the expansion so it doesn’t take so long when we need it,” Krebs told the BZA.
At the meeting, Nestlé indicated it would add 200,000 square feet to its plant, bringing the total to 1 million square feet. The company would add 140 employees. Nestlé originally said it would employ 300 and, according to The Herald Bulletin reported in June, the company hasn’t finished its initial hiring.
According to a staff report at the BZA meeting, the expansion includes 11 doors in a new shipping dock and 47 new truck parking spaces.
