11:10 a.m.: Elwood officer suspended in missing evidence investigation

— ELWOOD — An Elwood police officer has been suspended pending an investigation into the disappearance of evidence, according to an Indianapolis TV station.
City leaders met Wednesday to discuss the case, which is being investigated by the Indiana State Police, Channel 6 reported. The officer’s name is being withheld at this time.
“That officer has been suspeneded with pay as of this time,” Elwood Mayor Merrill Taylor told the TV station. “I think knowing that something like this would happen by a person that you put in public safety, that’s what bothers me the most.”
