NOBLESVILLE -- Sarah Palin's appearance for a book-signing Thursday has sold more than 1,000 books, reaching the cutoff for customers to obtain signed copies of her new memoir, "Going Rogue."

The first 1,000 book purchasers were given wristbands that allowed them to return for the Republican former vice presidential candidate's book-signing scheduled for 6 p.m. tonight. By noon, those wristbands were sold out at the Borders bookstore at Hamilton Town Center.

About 700 people were already in line at 7:30 a.m. Thursday at a Meijer store in Fort Wayne where the 2008 Republican vice presidential candidate was scheduled to sign copies of her bestseller, "Going Rogue," starting at noon.

Meanwhile, about 1,000 were waiting at 7 a.m. at a Borders store in the Indianapolis suburb of Noblesville, where the former Alaska governor was expected about 6 p.m. The store planned to have fans line up after a security check about 5 p.m.

The first 1,000 people to buy copies of the book and line up at the stores were eligible for wristbands that entitled them to have Palin autograph their books.

Her Noblesville appearance will be among the first of her book-promotion tour.
