Arrest Log

Arrests made by Madison County law enforcement on Sunday and Monday, based on Madison County Jail records. Charges are recommended by arresting officers, but are not final until the Madison County prosecutor reviews the case and files official charges.

Madison County deputies arrested Jason S. Helmer, 38, of the 9300 block of Swimming Hole Lane, Pendleton, at 4:22 p.m. Sunday. Bond was set at $10,000 for Class D felony fraud and Class D felony theft.

Elwood police arrested Joshua D. Murray, 31, of the 100 block of East 10th Street, Anderson, at 8:10 p.m. Sunday. Bond was set at $5,000 for Class D felony violation of word release and Class D felony failure to return to lawful detention.

Anderson police arrested Maleah L. Pinion, 29, of the 1000 block of Lennox Street, Anderson, at 10:37 p.m. Sunday. Bond was set at $5,000 for Class D felony theft.

Elwood police arrested Shay J. Henderson, 25, of the 1600 block of South Q Street, Elwood, at 12:44 a.m. Monday. No bond was set for Class A misdemeanor invasion of privacy.

Elwood police arrested AnnaBelle L. Henderson, 24, of the 1800 block of North C Street, Elwood, at 1:36 a.m. Monday. No bond was set for Class A misdemeanor invasion of privacy.

Anderson police arrested Thomas L. Bell, 49, of the 3000 block of Morton Avenue, Anderson, at 6:11 a.m. Monday. Bond was set at $4,000 for Class A misdemeanor resisting law enforcement.

Madison County deputies arrested Jesse B. Cochran, 25, of the 500 block of Nursery Road, Anderson, at 9:12 a.m. Monday. No bond was set for Class D felony violation of in home detention.

    Police believe they have the man responsible for terrorizing a family and small community with a brutal and confusing crime. George Arthur Knotts Sr., 68, of Elwood was transferred to the Madison County Jail on Friday, facing preliminary charges of murder, strangulation, criminal confinement and aggravated battery in connection with the homicide of 66-year-old Linda Speer.

Martin’s remains were returned to Elwood after being flown back to Indiana from Alaska, where he was killed during the Korean War when the C-124 Globemaster he was riding in crashed into a mountain while traveling to an Air Force base near Anchorage.

    The ex-husband of an Elwood woman who was found dead on Tuesday said he hadn't spoken to the woman in years, but he can't imagine why anyone would've wanted her dead. Linda Speer, 66, was found in her home in the 1800 block of North C Street in Elwood by her daughter late Tuesday night.
