Open Arms Skate to support Alternatives

ANDERSON — The East Central Roller Derby invites the public to come support its fourth annual Open Arms Skate this Saturday. The family-friendly skating event will be at Anderson Roll Arena from 5 to 7 p.m.

Admission is $5. Bring your own skates or rent skates for $2.75. All proceeds will benefit Alternatives Inc.

The Derby ladies are also collecting much needed items for the shelter including: children’s clothing; cleaning products; coats; diapers; dishwashing detergent; hair products; food items; gift cards; laundry detergent; office supplies; paper products; personal care items; towels and wash cloths; and underwear and socks.

Alternatives is a domestic violence shelter located in Anderson serving six counties: Hamilton, Hancock, Henry, Madison, Marion and Tipton. Alternatives strives to eradicate family violence in all its facets through prevention, education and intervention. Residents are provided clothing, food, transportation, and case management.
