FRANKTON — A man believed to be responsible for three incidents of rape was taken into police custody Wednesday.
According to Madison County Sheriff Ron Richardson, deputies received a call in the morning hours and shortly after arrested George H. Eltzroth, 69, of Frankton. After several interviews with detectives, Eltzroth was charged with three counts of rape and three counts of sexual deviant conduct, both felonies. As of Wednesday night, he was still housed in Madison County Jail on $20,000 bond.
Richardson said the charges stem from accusations from one alleged victim on three separate occasions, and not many other details were readily available. He said he didn't have information on the times, dates or specifics of each alleged attack.
"That's what I know about it at this point," Richardson said. "I haven't been able to sit down and talk with the investigator yet. We'll probably know a little more (Thursday) afternoon."
Calls placed to Eltzroth's home number went unanswered Wednesday night. Public records indicate Eltzroth has no criminal history.
