Lions World Lunch Relay event here April 5

MARKLEVILLE — The Markleville Lions Club is inviting the community to join them on Saturday for a special international event. The Lions World Lunch Relay brings families and friends of Lions together in their local communities and with families and friends of Lions around the world to share a meal and celebrate the value of service.

The Lions World Lunch Relay will kick off at noon Friday in New Zealand. As Lions clubs around the world host lunch events at noon in different international time zones, the Lunch Relay will move from time zone to time zone around the world, forming the Lions World Lunch Relay.

The Markleville Lions will be hosting their portion of this event on Saturday beginning at noon at the Markleville Park. If there is rain or inclement weather the event will be held at Town Hall. The Lions World Lunch Relay is an opportunity for residents to learn more about the Markleville Lions.

The Lions will be doing some park cleanup that day getting ready for the warm weather, picnics, ball games and other gatherings at the park.

To learn more about the lunch event, the Markleville Lions or its service projects, call John Holmes, 533-2135 or Betty Weist, 623-3553.
