---- — INDIANAPOLIS — Two staffers with The Herald Bulletin were honored Wednesday by the Indiana Coalition Against Domestic Violence for a series of stories informing readers about the epidemic of domestic violence in Madison County.
Reporter Abbey Doyle and associate editor for features Scott L. Miley received the Empowerment Award during an awards luncheon in Indianapolis at ICADV's 31st annual conference.
The award recognized the series, "Faces of Domestic Violence," which was published for five consecutive Sundays in October 2012. October is National Domestic Violence Awareness Month.
The Indiana Coalition Against Domestic Violence is a statewide alliance of domestic violence programs, support agencies and concerned individuals.
Each year, ICADV recognizes outstanding individuals in the fields of Domestic Violence Professional, Preventionist, Law Enforcement Officer, Prosecutor, Judge, Medical Professional, Batterers’ Intervention Provider and Volunteer who demonstrate dedication above and beyond the call of duty to helping survivors of intimate partner violence and to the anti-violence movement as a whole.
