Vouchers to be distributed for Senior Farmers Market

The Herald Bulletin

---- — ANDERSON — Vouchers for the Senior Farmers will be available during special sign-up sessions only.

Some 125 sets of vouchers worth $20 each are being distributed in four counties: Delaware, Madison, Henry and Grant.

Madison County sign-up will be 2 to 4 p.m. Monday at Farrington Apartments, 1430 E. 60th St., Anderson.

Income-qualified adults ages 60 and older as of Dec. 1 of this year and people younger who qualify by income and live in Gillespie Towers in Muncie or Southdale and Longfellow senior housing in Anderson are eligible.

The vouchers can be redeemed for fresh produce through October at approved WIC-local markets in Grant, Henry and Delaware counties.

Income proof is needed. For income limits or places where the vouchers can be used, call LifeStream at (800) 589-1121.

This will be the 12th year for the program, and seniors in East Central Indiana have had the one of the highest redemption rates on the vouchers for each year of the program. The redemption rate is important to ensure the program continues and to ensure seniors are getting foods to encourage healthy eating habits.

Guidelines for the program are set by the Indiana Department of Health and an individual may only receive one set of vouchers.

For more information, call LifeStream at 759-1121 or (800) 589-1121.
