Police: Man threatened children with knife

ELWOOD, Ind. — A man who allegedly entered his ex-girlfriend’s home and used a knife to threaten to kill five people on Dec. 2 was arrested Tuesday night.

Police executed a warrant for Brandon Rogers, 25, who faces felony charges for intimidation, criminal recklessness, neglecting a dependent and residential entry.

Rogers allegedly entered his ex-girlfriend’s home in the 1000 block of Washington Parkway and demanded to speak with her. When she refused, he became enraged, grabbed a steak knife from the kitchen and threatened to kill the five people in the home at the time, including his two children, according to the probable cause affidavit.

Rogers allegedly held both of his sons at different points and waved the knife around during the incident. Rogers then left the house with one of his sons and the knife, according to the report.

Roger’s ex-girlfriend told police Rogers has battered and threatened her in the past, that she feared for her and her children and that police “would have to shoot [Rogers] to stop him,” according to the affidavit.

Police tracked down Rogers near the home shortly after the incident. During the arrest, Rogers allegedly asked an officer to shoot him because he had “nothing else to live for,” according to the report.

Rogers had no criminal history prior to the incident, according to public record.
