Backyard BBQ slated for Aug. 9

ANDERSON — The Madison County Community Health Center will host its 10th annual Backyard BBQ on Friday, Aug. 9, from 5 to 8:30 p.m. at 1547 Ohio Ave. This is a free event to the community.

More than 700 people are expected to take part in this celebration that kicks off National Health Center Week. “Transforming Heath Care in our Local Communities” is the theme for this year’s National Health Center Week, which is Aug. 11-17. Community health centers will have a key function in implementation of the Affordable Care Act, a local representative said in a press release.

In addition to the free food and drink, live music from, among others, the Sons of Funk and the Jeff Hardin Band, as well as a performance by the White River Zumba Dancers, will transform the event into a community party. Drawings for giveaways, including bicycles, lunch at Hoosier Park, and Indianapolis Colts tickets will take place during the evening.
