Elwood mayor’s son facing battery, alcohol possession charges

ELWOOD, Ind. — Elwood Mayor Ron Arnold’s son was released to the custody of his parents Monday after being charged with battery and minor possession of alcohol.

Since he’s a minor, the Madison County prosecutor’s office can’t release his name. But Prosecutor Rodney Cummings said it was a different son than the one arrested in connection with the November fire at the former State Plating building, 11700 N. Indiana 37, in Elwood.

Arnold’s son was detained overnight at the juvenile detention center and released to his parents by a judge on Monday, Cummings said.

Cummings said there’s no date set for a delinquency hearing on the charges of minor possession of alcohol and battery.

There was no official statement from the mayor’s office, Elwood public information officer Jeff Howe said.
