Travel watch for area lifted

Schools closed; only essential driving is recommended

ANDERSON, Ind. — The travel watch for Madison County has been lifted, but road conditions remain slick and hazardous throughout the area, according to state police in Pendleton. Officials are continuing to ask motorists to restrict travel as crews work to clear main and secondary roads.

At least eight inches of snow had fallen in Anderson by noon, and there was little traffic to be seen along several streets in the city.

Public school districts throughout the county, including Anderson Community Schools, Elwood Community Schools and Frankton-Lapel Community Schools, have closed for the day.

A winter storm warning for the area has also been lifted.

The Herald Bulletin will continue to update this story.
