Roady Racers program for kids begins May 7

ANDERSON, Ind. — The Roady Racers is a program designed for children who want to become runners. The group meets every Tuesday beginning May 7 through August except for holidays at Shadyside Lake near the playground equipment on Alexandria Pike.

Sign-ups are at 5:30 p.m., stretching at 5:45 p.m. with the races starting at 6 p.m. Maximum time for each race is 45 minutes.

Every child gets a ribbon and a treat every week. There is a point system and each year of age is a separate age group with ribbons awarded as follows, 1st = 50, 2nd = 45, 3rd = 40, 4th = 39, and so on.

Once a month there is a pitch-in. The group supplies the hot dogs and the parents supply items for the pitch-in.

Robert D. Loose Funeral Homes donates two bicycles a year to be raffled off at the end of the year. However many races the child has run in gets that many tickets for the raffle.

For more information, call director Frankie at 635-5696.
