ALEXANDRIA, Ind. — A woman who allegedly drove with her children in vehicle while under the influence of drugs last July was arrested on Sunday.
Jennifer N. Johnson, 30, of Alexandria, faces charges of neglect and driving while suspended for an incident in summer of 2013. According to the probable cause affidavit, several witnesses called 911 to report that a van belonging to Johnson was being driven erratically. An Alexandria officer who questioned Johnson at her home as she was exiting the van with her two children reported that her speech was slurred and she responded oddly to questioning. She had just driven her children home from school.
Johnson, whose license was suspended, was taken into custody and later admitted to abusing marijuana and Xanax earlier that week, according to the affidavit. Her children were placed with a relative by Department of Child Services.
The neglect and driving while suspended charges are the latest on Johnson's arrest record. She also pleaded guilty to possession of a controlled substance in 2006 and domestic battery in 2011. She was also arrested for driving on a suspended license in November 2012 and September 2013.
