Fire displaces Edgewood couple

Damage to home estimated at $50,000

EDGEWOOD, Ind. — Thomas and Eileen Baldauf have found shelter at an area hotel after fire heavily damaged their home in the 900 block of Sunset Drive late Tuesday.

Robert Griner, chief of the Edgewood Volunteer Fire Department, said firefighters were dispatched to the ranch style brick home just before midnight.

He said the blaze, which caused an estimated $50,000 in damage, started in the attic.

Griner said he believes the fire will be traced to an electrical problem, but an exact cause is pending further investigation.

Edgewood was assisted by the Anderson and Lapel fire departments. Crews were on the scene until about 5 a.m. Wednesday.

No one was injured in the blaze, officials said.
