MIDDLETOWN, Ind. —
A high-speed accident Monday night between Anderson and Middletown left one driver hospitalized with serious injuries.
Timothy J. Brinson, 46, of Middletown, was transported by a Chesterfield ambulance to St. Vincent Anderson Regional Hospital after the accident, which happened at about 9 p.m., according to a press release from Madison County Sheriff's Department Major Brian Bell.
According to the accident report, Brinson was driving a 1993 Chevrolet Blazer westbound on Indiana 236 and rear-ended a 2008 Honda Odyssey van driven by Laura L. Hargrave, 38, of Middletown. Hargrave was stopped at the intersection of Madison County Road 450 East, waiting to turn south. The force of the impact pushed Hargrave's van off the roadway and into a fence on the north side of the state road.
Witnesses told police that Brinson's vehicle didn't appear to brake prior to the accident. Brinson wasn't wearing a seat belt, police said. Hargrave was treated at the scene and released with minor injuries.
The sheriff's department was assisted by the Chesterfield Fire Department, Rural Metro and Emergency Management.
