Official: IRS has put a lien on library

WALKERTON — An auditor for a northern Indiana county says the Internal Revenue Service has placed a lien on a public library that has been closed since last month.

St. Joseph County Auditor Pete Mullen tells WNDU-TV that the IRS says the Walkerton-Lincoln Township Public Library owes $47,920 for failing to pay federal withholding taxes. Mullen says the IRS has put a lien against any money the library is scheduled to receive. He says the library was scheduled to receive $44,633 on Monday.
