Lane restrictions with flagging set for Madison County

MADISON COUNTY — The Indiana Department of Transportation is restricting traffic to a single lane at various worksites for application of Ultrathin Bonded Wearing Course overlays and related work along Indiana 128 and 28 in Madison County.

Flaggers are present to direct motorists around crews and equipment. Delays should be minimal, an INDOT spokesman said in a press release.

Ind. 128-Frankton to Ind. 9

Milling and scarifying the existing Ind. 128 pavement from 11th Street in Frankton to Ind. 9 will continue throughout this week.

Late next week and through much of the week of May 18, paving crews are scheduled to place the UBWC surface course-weather permitting. The specially designed asphalt overlay will seal Ind. 128 from moisture intrusion and restore a higher coefficient of friction for better stopping and maneuvering capabilities.

A similar UBWC overlay project is well underway along Ind. 28 between Ind. 37 and Ind. 9. Work is currently taking place at road and driveway approaches while mainline paving operations continue throughout this week and into next week.

The 7.2-mile section of Ind. 28 between Elwood and Alexandria is an INDOT Greenfield District paving project designed to provide extended service life for the roadway and improved safety for the motoring public, the spokesman said.
