Man arrested on warrant for meth charges

ANDERSON, Ind. — A man wanted on warrants for meth-related charges from an incident in February is in custody.

Shawn Hunter, 32, was arrested Tuesday evening on charges he received on Feb. 25, according to arrest logs. Hunter also faces a jail hold for a charge in Delaware County.

Hunter and Matthew Hockema, 33, were arrested on Feb. 25 by detectives in their home in the 1400 block of West Third Street for allegedly maintaining a lab. According to a probable cause affidavit of the incident, officers found 22 one-pot method bottles and meth-making chemicals and supplies scattered throughout the house.

Megan L. Henderson, 24, of Elwood, came to the house shortly after the raid, reportedly looking to buy meth from the pair, unaware of the identities of the Drug Task Force officers, said one of the arresting DTF officers.

Henderson faces charges of possession of a syringe and violation of probation.

Officers were tipped off to the lab by precursor logs, which indicated Hockema had purchased pseudoephedrine 15 times in the past year, including Monday, according to the affidavit. Pseudoephedrine is the key ingredient in home-made meth production.

Hunter has a history of criminal activity. In 2009, he pleaded guilty to a charge of resisting law enforcement. Hunter and Hockema are also both being investigated for probation violation, according to public records.
