Three Amigos' car show July 14

ANDERSON — The Three Amigos, Bob Leathers (Cisco Kid), Poncho as Poncho and Jerry Arnold (Loco), will host a car show from 5 to 9 p.m. Sunday.

The show will take place in the KFC/A&W parking lot in front of Meijer. Fifty-one awards will be presented.

APL budget committee sets meeting

ANDERSON — The Anderson Public Library budget committee will meet at 4 p.m. Wednesday in the library's board room, 111 E. 12th St.

True conducts bereavement session

ANDERSON — The Rev. Dick True of the Community Hospital Department of Pastoral Care will conduct the next session of the Bereavement Support Ministry at 7 p.m. Thursday at Bethany Christian, 1920 N. Rangeline Road.

Please bring a photo of your loved one for this special session. The group meets in the Fireside Room. Enter through the north entrance across from Highland Middle School. Sessions are free; call 643-5713 for information.

Traffic stop yields suspected heroin hidden in car

REMINGTON — State Police say a trooper who stopped a motorist for going nearly 100 mph along a northern Indiana highway found more than five pounds of suspected heroin hidden inside the vehicle.

Police say 26-year-old motorist Pedro A. Burgos of Miami acted suspiciously and a police dog detected the possible presence of drugs in his car. A search of the car revealed suspected heroin in four packages hidden inside the back panel of the front passenger seat with a possibly street value of $120,000.

Ohio man dies after sandbar dive at N. Ind. lake

WARSAW — An Ohio man has died after striking his head on a shallow sandbar at a northern Indiana lake. Indiana conservation officers say 26-year-old Bradley Heyne of Coldwater, Ohio, died Monday at a hospital from his injuries.

Heyne was swimming with friends evening at Big Chapman Lake when he dove headfirst from a boat and struck the sandbar. Others with him brought the unresponsive man to shore and began CPR before he was taken to the hospital.

More than 200 friends and family members gathered at Edgewood Baptist Church this afternoon to pay their respects to Jesse, who was killed April 6 in a traffic accident on Indiana 32.
