County residents saved thousands on prescriptions

MADISON COUNTY — Madison County taxpayers saved more than $18,000 in June through the National Association of Counties (NACo) Prescription Discount Card Program. Residents used the discount drug card to fill more than 1,000 prescriptions.

Madison County residents saved an average of $15.86 per prescription in June. The county has saved more than $1.5 million since it joined the program in 2008, and residents have used the drug card for savings on more than 94,000 prescriptions.

“Prescription medications are essential to Madison County residents’ day-to-day lives,” Madison County Commissioner John Richwine said. “With the rising costs of pharmaceuticals, many of these medications are extremely expensive. It is our responsibility to provide ways for our residents to save money when we can.”

Madison County residents can print an ID card at www.nacorx.org. County residents can call toll-free 1-877-321-2652 or visit www.nacorx.org for assistance with the program.
