Capitol Police officer accused of molesting child

FRANKLIN — A Capitol Police officer with Indiana State Police faces a charge of child molest after an alleged incident in Johnson County.

Scott Litten, 43, of Anderson, is accused of inappropriately touching an 11-year-old girl at a pool party Saturday, according to a press release from Johnson County Sheriff Doug Cox. Litten was arrested on an initial charge of sexual battery, and the charge was upgraded after the girl admitted she was touched by Litten, Cox said in the release.

Johnson County deputies were dispatched to the 5600 block of South County Road 550 East in Franklin after a child molest was reported at about 8 p.m. Sunday. Two adults told deputies they saw Litten fondle the girl in a swimming pool at the address, according to the press release.

Child molest is a Class A felony in Indiana.

According to Indiana State Police, Litten has been with ISP since July 2002 and he is currently on paid administrative leave pending his court hearing. Attempts to reach Litten on Tuesday were unsuccessful.

Capitol Police patrol the Statehouse and state office buildings.
