ANDERSON, Ind. —
Irving Materials Inc., today signed a purchase agreement for two ready-mix concrete plants from Atlas Red-D-Mix.
Earl Brinker, president and CEO of IMI, said the company agreed to buy the two plants, which are located at IMI facilities in Anderson and Pendleton. He did not disclose the purchase price.
Brinker said the company’s facilities in Madison County did not have the capability of producing concrete.
That will likely change, although Brinker said it will take IMI staff several days to evaluate the plants.
Meanwhile concrete will be hauled into Anderson from nearby Muncie and other locations.
The fate of Red-D-Mix employees is not clear.
Company manager Trent Shannon was not immediately available for comment.
Brinker said Red-D-Mix employees can apply for jobs at IMI.
“We will look at the qualifications of Atlas people” said Brinker, “but they will have to fill out an application.”
