Film fest offers workshops

YORKTOWN, Ind. — The Heartland Film Festival high school competition and workshops will be held at Yorktown High School Library, 1100 S. Tiger Drive, Yorktown, beginning April 24.

Learn from the pros and enter the Heartland Film Festival. Each workshop includes a guest speaker, followed by questions, answers and time to work on your project. Each session is $2.

Workshop schedule

◆ April 24, 3:30-6 p.m., “Introducing the Heartland Film Festival & High School Competition,” speaker Thomas Lewis, a 2012 Heartland Film Festival judge.

◆ May 1, 3:30-5 p.m., “Follow Your Dreams,” learn how to use animation and illustration in your film. Speaker will be animator/illustrator Fred Craig.

◆ May 8, 3:30-6 p.m., “Writing & Directing With What You Have,” speaker will be Austin Glidden, Ball State University, telecommunications graduate; and May 22, 3:30-6 p.m., “The Mini Heart Showcase & Dinner.” Bring a dish to this potluck dinner and showcase your ideas, scripts, artwork or film.
