Walmart evacuated after bomb threat

ANDERSON, Ind. — Shoppers at Walmart were evacuated early Saturday morning after the store received a bomb threat.

A call was made to the store, 2321 Charles St., at around midnight. The Anderson Police Department was notified at 12:11 a.m., said spokesman Det. Joel Sandefur.

Police responded, he said, as did the Anderson Fire battalion chief, which is protocol for bomb threats.

The store was evacuated while authorities searched the building. They found no evidence of a bomb, Sandefur said, and cleared the scene at 12:46 a.m.
