New Hope Methodist to mark the Rev. Reginald Lee’s departure

ANDERSON — New Hope United Methodist Church will mark a transition in its leadership with a farewell reception for the Rev. Reginald E. Lee.

A community farewell reception will take place from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Friday at the church at 812 W. 13th St. A special program will begin at 7, and the event is open to the public.

Lee has been assigned minister of Wesley United Methodist Church at 30th and Tibbs streets in Indianapolis. The Rev. Sharon White will move from the church’s conference staff in Bloomington to take Lee’s place at New Hope.

Lee, a Baltimore native, headed New Hope for 12 years, during which a new facility was built. He said a state-of-the-art day-care facility will open in August.

“I’ve come to call Anderson home,” Lee said. “It’s a bittersweet moment for me.”
