Elwood police arrest man accused of rape

ELWOOD, Ind. — A man was arrested Tuesday night in connection with a rape that allegedly occurred earlier in the day.

Leslie Terry Todd, 51, of Decatur, Ill., is accused of attacking a woman at some point on Tuesday, according to Elwood Police Chief Sam Hanna.

Police were called to the woman’s Elwood home after receiving reports she had been raped by Todd. According to Hanna, Todd, who grew up in Elwood, and the woman had been longtime acquaintances. He was in town for a visit and living with relatives when the two agreed to meet to catch up.

“What we think is, it was consensual at first, but at some point, it turned into something else, something unwanted,” Hanna said.

According to jail records, as of Wednesday afternoon, Todd is being held in Madison County Jail on $60,000 bond.
