Gruenewald Home open Saturday for free tours

ANDERSON — The Gruenewald Historic House, 626 Main St., will be open for free tours from noon to 3 p.m. Saturday. The house's master gardener will be in the Heirloom Garden leading tours.

More than 1,400 museums nationwide are open free of charge as part of Smithsonian Museum Day. Go to www.smithsonianmag.com/museumday/ticketto print a ticket for admission. For information, call 648-6875.

Frazier's closing Monday for season

ANDERSON — Frazier's Dairy Maid, 3311 Main St.,will close for the season on Monday. The store hours are 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.

EVFD to host Dan's Fish Fry

EDGEWOOD -- The Edgewood Volunteer Fire Department will host a Dan's Fish Fry from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the Fire Station on Ind. 32.

The cost is $10 for all you can eat fish and chicken, two side dishes, plus a drink and dessert. Meals are $5 for children 6-12; children 5 and under eat free. Carry-outs are available.

INDOT to close Indiana for repairs

ELWOOD — The Indiana Department of Transportation will close Indiana 37 on the east side of Elwood for repairs at the Norfolk Southern rail crossing.

Restrictions begin Monday morning and are expected to continue through Friday afternoon. INDOT is placing barricades at the 193 and 196 mile markers. An official detour routes traffic on Indiana 13 and Indiana 28.

Norfolk Southern plans to resurface its rail crossing during the 5-day closure period.

Inclement weather could postpone repair efforts.

Man killed in Amish buggy crash

VERSAILLES — State police say a young man was killed after being ejected from an Amish buggy that crashed into a pickup truck in southeastern Indiana.

The crash happened Thursday night on U.S. 421 near Versailles. Police say a horse-and-buggy driven by Daniel Stoltzfus of Versailles crossed the highway's centerline into the path of a pickup truck.
