Legion to hold special election

ANDERSON — The Men’s Auxiliary of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 266, 3210 Columbus Ave., will host a special election at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 9.

The club has a vacancy after the recent death of an officer. All members are encouraged to attend.

McCoy to discuss advertising, marketing

MUNCIE — On Oct. 11, Armand McCoy, marketing and public relations expert, will be speaking at the Horizon Convention Center in downtown Muncie, as part of the American Advertising Federation of East Central Indiana (AAF ECI) professional luncheon series. Lunch begins at 11:30 a.m. with the presentation from noon to 1 p.m.

McCoy manages business development at Trifecta Communications.

Blood drive to honor students

FRANKTON — A blood drive will be held from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 15, in auxiliary gym at Frankton High School. This blood drive is in memory of Lacey Curtis, Jessica King and Whitney Mason.

Fresh produce giveaway today

ANDERSON —The Anderson Impact Center, 630 Nichol Ave., will have a fresh produce giveaway today at 2 p.m., while supplies last. This distribution is in collaboration with Second Harvest Food Bank of East Central Indiana.

Literacy Coalition to host meeting

ANDERSON — The Madison County Literacy Coalition will host an informational meeting on Saturday, Oct. 26, at 10 a.m. at The Literacy Center, 200 E. 11th St. It will be an opportunity for individuals to find out about becoming a volunteer tutor for adults who struggle with basic literacy skills including reading, writing, comprehension, and spelling. Attendees will find out about tutor training, support meetings for tutors, and time commitments for tutoring adult learners.

IU Health says 900 jobs affected

INDIANAPOLIS — Indiana University Health now says it will cut more than 900 jobs in a reorganization brought on by changes in health care. That’s at least 100 more than announced nearly three weeks ago
