Alexandria dealership welcomes customers with new look

ALEXANDRIA, Ind. — After a nine-month remodeling overhaul, DeVoe Chevrolet dealership ceremonially re-opened its doors on Friday.

The dealership has been operating during the revamp, but half the showroom was closed during the lengthy facelift. Owner Scott DeVoe said that after 25 years at the location on Indiana 9, the dealership was due for a makeover.

"Our building needed it, and I really like the plan," DeVoe said. "It looks good, it keeps us with the times. It really puts us in a good position for the next 20 or so years. We love it. The customers love it. We've heard a lot of positive feedback from customers and people in Alexandria."

The remodel was a complete redesign of the interior and much of the exterior. From the outside, a parapet wall with a commercial Chevrolet tower was added around the pole barn building, giving it a uniform appearance comparable to other Chevy dealerships around the country. DeVoe also had the parking lot repaved. He said the new appearance on the outside meets the specifications of the company's image program, which makes dealerships recognizable and iconic.

On the inside, separate offices are now available for sales managers, and new sales stations inside the showroom allow for more private conversations with customers, said sales manager John Estes. The floor is re-tiled, and there's a new lounge in the back of the showroom.

Estes, who heads up sales for used vehicles, said the new showroom provides a more comfortable atmosphere for both employees and customers. He said he thinks the improvements will enhance both sales and service.

The biggest change — and the only true addition to the building — is a service drive connected to the south side of the building. The drive allows customers to bring their vehicles inside and drive right into the service room in the rear of the building. The service room has also been renovated with new features and updated lighting.
