Alexandria Community Band to present Christmas concert

ALEXANDRIA, Ind. — The Alexandria Community Band will present its annual Christmas Concert at the Alexandria First Baptist Church at 7 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 16.

The concert will feature, in addition to the full band, selections from the saxophone ensemble of Steve Pugsley, Linda Erwin, Dr. Max Culler, Bob Abshire, Mike Russell and Eric George, and special music also from the high school members of the band.

Alan Erwin, conductor and general manager, will be assisted by Dr. John Carter and Gary Wallyn, the new director of bands for Alexandria-Monroe Schools. Trevor Ewigleben will be featured in a trumpet solo accompanied by the band. This solo setting of “Silent Night” was arranged by local arranger/musician Les Taylor and was originally performed as a dedication to the founder of the band, Everett Rossow.

A freewill offering will be taken to benefit Alexandria Emergency Relief Fund.

The church is located at the south edge of Alexandria on Indiana 9.
