LAPEL, Ind. — The Madison County Coroner today identified the victim in Tuesday’s fatal accident on Ind. 32 as Whitney Foote, 27, of Anderson.

Deputy Coroner Jerry Dunnichay said Foote, who was driving a white Dodge Grand Caravan, died of blunt force injuries to the chest and stomach. She was pronounced dead at Community Hospital Anderson.

According to the Madison County Sheriff’s Department, Foote was westbound on Ind. 32, following a pick-up truck driven by Robert Prather, 53, of Anderson.

When Prather slowed to make a left turn onto a private drive in the 7900 block of Ind. 32, Foote slammed into the rear of Prather’s truck. The accident occurred at 4:02 p.m. Tuesday.

Danielle Barker, 25, of Anderson, was a passenger in the van and was transported to Community Hospital Anderson and was being treated for minor injuries, said Madison County Sheriff Ron Richardson. Robert Prather, 53, of Anderson, was the driver of the truck and was  transported to Saint John's Medical Center to be treated for minor injuries, Richardson said.

Both vehicles were westbound, with the van following the truck, when the truck stopped to make a left turn onto a private drive in the 7900 block of Ind. 32. The van rear-ended the truck then struck a cement culvert, the sheriff said.

Officers and firefighters from Madison County Sheriff’s Department, Madison County Emergency Management, Lapel Fire, Police and Emergency Medical Services and Edgewood police were at the scene.
