Int’l. children’s choir to perform
Children of the World International Children’s Choir will perform at 10:30 a.m. Sunday at Wesley Free Methodist Church, 3017 W. Eighth St.,
This high-energy and inspiring program will feature several songs, in both English and native dialects, as well as stirring personal testimonies. The children have performed in such venues as Focus on the Family, Brooklyn Tabernacle, Crystal Cathedral and Disney World.

Grace Baptist marks 50 years
On Sunday, Grace Baptist Church of Anderson will celebrate “50 Years of Growing in Grace.” Bible historian Gene Fisher will present a program in the 9:30 a.m. hour and then will be preaching in the 10:30 a.m. worship service.
An anniversary banquet will follow the morning services, and then at 2 p.m. a special program will include skits, video presentations and other special events.
There will be no regular 6 p.m. service that day.
Also at 7 p.m. Wednesday (April 30, the actual date of the founding of the church), there will be a praise service followed by refreshments. Visitors are invited and welcome to all of these events.

Goins in concert at First Church
Larry Goins will be playing his annual Spring Organ Concert at the First Church of the Nazarene, 2300 Jackson St., in Anderson at 7 p.m. Saturday, May 3.
The concert will feature music from the Broadway stage as well as sacred and gospel music.
Goins has served as organist at the local congregation for the past 26 years. He has recorded several solo projects as well as serving as accompanist on many other recordings
There is no admission charge for the concert.
Biker blessing Main St. Church of God
Main Street Church of God announces its second annual “Biker Sunday” and “Blessing of the Bikes.” The event will be held on Sunday at the church, located at 4211 Main St. in Anderson.
Bikers are encouraged to ride their motorcycles and dress in their riding gear for the morning service, focused on the crossroads of life.
After the 10:30 a.m. worship service, there will be a blessing offered for the riders and their bikes, followed by a 50-mile tour of eastern Madison County.
The group will return to the church for a cookout sponsored by the Student Ministries of Main Street.
Don Billey, senior pastor at Main Street, along with his wife, Karen, are members of the Christian Motorcyclists Association and are looking forward to the day.
“Bikers are often marginalized by society simply because they ride,” Billey says. “We want everyone to know that they are welcome in God's kingdom, and specifically at Main Street.”
Last year was the inaugural year for the event and 19 bikes arrived. Billey expects that number to double this year.
There is no charge to participate in the blessing or the ride. Donations for the Student Ministries program will be accepted at the cookout. For more information, contact the Main Street Church of God at (765) 644-6555 or send a note to info@mainstreetcog.net.
Musical show at Central Christian
Central Christian Church, 10th and Jackson streets, will host “Spring at Central” at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday.
This musical performance, conducted by music director Randy Frieling and choral director Paul Krasnovsky, will feature Central Christian Chancel Choir, Chancel Handbell Choir, and soloists Diana Huntoon and Rev. Rick Vale in Gabriel Faure’s Requiem.
Reservations are not necessary, and there is no charge to attend the concert in the sanctuary of the church. Freewill offerings will be accepted.

Comstock to lead First Presbyterian
First Presbyterian Church, 230 W. Ninth St., has announced that interim pastor David Comstock has been called to lead the church during the period following Pastor Rick Kimmer’s death.
Pastor Comstock will be preaching on “Because He Lives,” and the Kirk ringers (the youth) will be ringing the Bell Fanfare as the prelude. The church will also dedicate a memorial window in memory of Pastor Richard Kimmer.
Services are 8 a.m. in the church parlor, and 10:20 a.m. in the sanctuary. All are welcome.
‘Dress Down Sunday’ at New Life Apostolic
New Life Apostolic Church, 2230 Jefferson St., begins services at 11:30 a.m. Sunday with “Dress Down Sunday,” an event that takes place the last Sunday of every month as a special effort for providing a new comfortable worship environment.
New Life Apostolic also announces a new addition: the Praise Dance Ministry, which will feature “I Told the Storm” in the a.m. service. Members include De’Shana Chambers, Jenita Jones, Nakia Chambers and Shanda Fuller.
Galkin to speak at Calvary Baptist
Evangelist Will Galkin of Lakewood, Colo., will be the guest speaker for a Good News! Crusade at Calvary Baptist Church, 3030 East 10th St., Sunday through Friday, May 2. Services will begin at 9 and 10 a.m., and 6 p.m. Sunday, and at 7 p.m. during the week. Nursery care will be provided.
Galkin has traveled in evangelism since 1995. He is a graduate of Northland Baptist Bible College, Dunbar, Wis., and has received a M.A. from Bob Jones University, Greenville, S.C. He and his wife, Christy, a graduate of Bob Jones University with a degree in violin performance, have four children, Anna Grace, William, Lillian, and David.
The Galkins traveled with the Steve Pettit Evangelistic Team for six years and have continued in itinerant evangelism with their own family. Over the past 11 years, they have participated in more than 275 evangelistic campaigns.
During the summer months, Will and Christy minister at Northland Camp and Conference Center, where Will serves as staff evangelist and Christy is involved with various music responsibilities. Galkin Evangelistic Ministries is an arm of Red Rocks Baptist Church in Lakewood.
With the Galkins will be Aaron and Stephanie Coffey, who joined the ministry in 2006. The Coffeys also traveled with the Pettit Team for several years. Aaron and Stephanie coordinate the children, teen and adult outreach ministries and assist Christy with special music and the education of their children. They have a baby daughter, Ella.
Gospel music will be provided by the team, which has two professional recordings, and will include a sacred Irish concert in the Friday night service. Wednesday night's message will be on the home. Thursday night's topic will be the Bible’s teaching on the end times. Every service will include a message of help and hope from God's Word.
This week’s meetings are geared for the entire family. Kids won’t want to miss “Captain Coffey's Secret Treasure Hunt,” a nightly children’s program. There will be special events for teens. Share in the life-changing impact of these services all week.

Youth Night Sunday at Old Country Gospel
The Old Country Full Gospel Church will be having a Youth Night Sunday at 6 p.m. All youth groups are welcome to join. Youths will be doing the services, preaching, singing and providing snacks after the services. Youth Nights are every fourth Sunday night.

Senior Recognition Chapel Tuesday
Anderson University School of Theology Senior Recognition Chapel for 2008 will be held in Miller Chapel at 11 a.m. Tuesday. The School of Theology will hold its Hooding Ceremony and major awards presentation to graduating seniors.
Dr. Robert Branson, professor of Biblical literature from Olivet Nazarene University, will be preaching. His sermon title will be “Models of Ministry.”
David Sebastian, dean, will be presiding. Sidney and Jean Johnson will service as chaplains.
May Friendship Day to be observed
Church Women United of Madison County will have its annual May Friendship Day at 10 a.m. Friday, May 2 at the host church, Friendship Missionary Baptist, 1540 W. 16th St.
The worship program will be led by Daisy Gholston and assisted by other local members and music leader Linda Boys. The theme will be “God’s Wisdom Inspires Hospitality: Plant a Seed of Hospitality, Reap a Bouquet of Friendship.” Fellowship of the least coin (a penny) will be collected.
Those attending should bring a covered dish for lunch at noon.
New Jerusalem celebrates Usher, Nurses Annual Day
New Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church, 2318 Sheridan St., will celebrate Ushere and Nurses Annual Day at 4 p.m. Sunday.
Pastor R.L. Foard and The Friendship Missionary Baptist Church of Marion will be the church’s guests.
