Community prayer service set for Thursday
Southern Heights Christian Church, 5401 S. Madison Ave., invites the public to a community prayer at 11 a.m. Thursday in observance of National Prayer Day.
Soroptimists invite prospective members
Soroptimist International of Anderson will have an introductory meeting for professional women interested in joining the service organization at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday in the Community Hospital Education Building on North Madison Avenue.
If you would like to find out more about how you can support community service, develop personal growth, join in women helping women, rally against domestic violence, advocate for children’s issues, utilize your leadership abilities, promote and participate in international goodwill, affirm Soroptimists’ representation in the United Nations, and cultivate lifelong friendships, club members invite you to join them for this meeting.

Garden clinic scheduled this weekend
The Pendleton Garden Club Sidewalk Sale and Garden Clinic is set for Friday and Saturday. The sale will be held from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday and Saturday at the northeast corner of Pendleton Avenue and State Street (Indiana 38) in downtown Pendleton.
Members of the club will be available to answer questions about gardening, flower arranging, plant care and how to become a Garden Club member.
The sale will feature fresh-baked goods to include fruit and nut pies, breads, cookies, homemade jams and jelly. Other items include bird houses, bird feeders, garden seeds and bulbs, perennial plants (daylilies, iris, daffodils), dried flowers and plant material for flower arranging, wreaths and many other garden-related items.

Frankton groups plan fish fry fundraiser
The 11th annual Dan’s Fish Fry will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the Frankton Heritage Building, Frankton. The event is being sponsored by the Frankton Knights of Pythias and Pythian Sisters.
Cost is $8 for adults (12 years and older), $5 for children 4-11 and children under 3, eat free.
The menu includes all-you-can-eat fish and chicken tenders, baked beans, chips, slaw or applesauce, dessert and drink.
New Hope UMC sets spring revival
New Hope United Methodist Church, 812 W. 13th St., Anderson, will have a spring revival today, Tuesday and Wednesday, with services at 7 p.m. Guest speaker will be the Rev. Henry Johnson III.
Johnson is pastor of the historic Union Grove Baptist Church of Columbus, Ohio, and is the founder of Henry L. Johnson III Ministries. He is a graduate of the Anderson College School of Theology.
Dr. Reginald E. Lee is pastor of New Hope.
New Castle Kiwanis club plans annual breakfast
The New Castle Evening Kiwanis is holding its annual pancake and sausage breakfast on Saturday from 7 to 10 a.m.
The breakfast will take place at the First Presbyterian Church, 1202 Church St., New Castle.
Price is $5 for all you can eat.
Blood drive Friday at Frankton High School
There will be a blood drive in the Frankton High School gymnasium from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday.
The blood drive will be in memory of Whitney Mason, Lacy Curtis and Jessica King. Also, any blood given at the Anderson Blood Bank on May 3-4 can be donated in the FHS name and count in this blood drive, according to a press release from Frankton organizers.
Benefit concert, dinner at New Zion Church
A benefit concert and dinner is planned Saturday at the New Zion Fellowship Church, 304 W. 11th St., Anderson. The event is sponsored by the church and the family of James L. Warner Jr.
Dinners will be served from noon until 5 p.m. when the concert starts. Call (765) 622-0774 for more information or to phone ahead for the dinner.
Tavern owners to meet at Three Pigs
The Madison County Tavern Owners Association will meet at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at the Three Pigs Restaurant and Tavern, 520 E. 29th St., Anderson.
