New Hope UMC spring revival continues
New Hope United Methodist Church, 812 W. 13th St., Anderson, will continue its spring revival today and Wednesday, with services at 7 p.m. Guest speaker will be the Rev. Henry Johnson III.
Johnson is pastor of the historic Union Grove Baptist Church of Columbus, Ohio, and is the founder of Henry L. Johnson III Ministries. He is a graduate of the Anderson College School of Theology.
Dr. Reginald E. Lee is pastor of New Hope.

Whetstone Cemetery group to meet
The Whetstone Cemetery Association will meet at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at Whetstone Christian Church, 5940 Madison Ave., Anderson. Those interested in the cemetery are invited to attend.

Markleville church hosts bean supper
The Markleville North Christian Church is sponsoring a ham and bean supper Wednesday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Family Life Center.
Ham and beans, cornbread, slaw or applesauce, dessert and drink are available for $6 for adults and $3 for children.


Veterans Reunion fish fry Friday
The All Veterans will sponsor a fish fry from 4:30 to 7:45 p.m. Friday at the VFW Post 266, 3210 Columbus Ave., Anderson. Cost is $7.
The All Veterans Reunion is set for June 13, 14 and 15 at the Chesterfield American Legion Post 408, 5100 Mounds Road.

Main Street Church of God hosts craft sale
Main Street Church of God, 4211 Main St., Anderson, will host a craft sale from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday. Food will also be available.

New Castle Kiwanians plan annual breakfast
The New Castle Evening Kiwanis is holding its annual pancake and sausage breakfast on Saturday from 7 to 10 a.m.
The breakfast will take place at the First Presbyterian Church, 1202 Church St., New Castle.
Price is $5 for all you can eat.

Blood drive Friday at Frankton High School
There will be a blood drive in the Frankton High School gymnasium from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday.
The blood drive will be in memory of Whitney Mason, Lacy Curtis and Jessica King. Also, any blood given at the Anderson Blood Bank on May 3-4 can be donated in the FHS name and count in this blood drive, according to a press release from Frankton organizers.

Benefit concert, dinner at New Zion Church
A benefit concert and dinner are planned Saturday at the New Zion Fellowship Church, 304 W. 11th St., Anderson. The event is sponsored by the church and the family of James L. Warner Jr.
Dinners will be served from noon until 5 p.m. when the concert starts. Call (765) 622-0774 for more information or to phone ahead for the dinner.

Tavern owners to meet at Three Pigs
The Madison County Tavern Owners Association will meet at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at the Three Pigs Restaurant and Tavern, 520 E. 29th St., Anderson.

March for Babies will be on Saturday
March for Babies, the March of Dimes fundraising event that benefits all babies, will be Saturday at Decker Hall on the Anderson University campus. Check-in will be at 1 p.m. and there will be a 2 p.m. start.
Started in 1970, this event is the original walk fundraiser. In 2007, it raised $117 million nationwide for research, community services, education and advocacy to help give every baby a healthy start, organizers said in a press release.

Officer nominations May 8
The Pendleton American Legion Auxiliary Unit 117 will have nominations for the 2008-2009 officers at the 7 p.m. May 8 meeting.
Final nominations will be made at the June 5 meeting after which the election will be held. Members’ current dues for 2008 must be paid before being nominated for an office or voting in the election.

Cemetery Commission meets Wednesday
The Madison County Cemetery Commission will meet 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Anderson Public Library, third floor.
Among the business topics will be plans for the Busby Cemetery, Fall Creek Township; the additional project of the Welborn Cemetery, Pipe Creek Township; and updates on the Hardy-Culp Cemetery, Fall Creek Township, and the Pickard Cemetery, Monroe Township. 

No fish dinner Saturday at 40 & 8
No fish dinner will be served Saturday at the Voiture 40 & 8 due to another event at the lodge. The fish and shrimp dinners will resume May 10.
