Dixon to graduate with bachelor’s
Safiya L. Dixon to receive bachelor’s of arts in political science and liberal studies. Safiya Latrice Dixon, a 2004 Anderson High School graduate, will be graduating cum laude from Kentucky State University with a bachelor’s of arts degree in Political Science and a bachelor’s of arts degree in Liberal Studies. She is the daughter of Sam and Mary Dixon.
During her enrollment at Kentucky State University, Dixon has been an active member in the NAACP, Peer Mentors Program, Student Government Association, and Whitney Young Student Council and was honored to be elected to serve as an officer while being a member in these organizations. She is also a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. Extra-curricular activities have included serving as a volunteer for several different organizations. Safiya currently interns with the Kentucky Legislative Research Commission at the Kentucky State Capital. As an intern, she writes and reviews bills for Kentucky Legislators and plays a major role in the passage of Kentucky legislation. After graduation, Safiya plans to attend the Thurgood Marshall School of Law in Houston, Texas. Commencement exercises will be held May 10 at 9 a.m. at the Frankfort Convention Center in Frankfort, Ky.
Mitchell named to dean’s list
PROVIDENCE, R.I. — Valerie Mitchell of Anderson has been named to the dean’s list for the winter term at Johnson & Wales University. Mitchell is pursuing a bachelor’s degree in sports entertainment event management from the Hospitality College at the Charlotte campus.
Moser named to dean’s list
TERRE HAUTE — Clark Andrew Moser of Anderson has been named to the dean’s list for the winter 2008 quarter at Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology.
