Frankton flushes hydrants
The town of Frankton will be flushing water hydrants Tuesday through Friday. Residents are advised to take necessary precautions, according to a press release from the office of clerk-treasurer.

Downtown cleanup Wednesday morning
The Downtown Anderson Spring Cleanup is set for 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Wednesday. Participants should meet at the Anderson Town Center across from the Paramount Theatre. Refreshments, gloves and trash bags will be provided and volunteers are asked to bring their own equipment.

Senior discount card sign-ups set
Merchants Older Buddies registration will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Wednesday at the Anderson Library Extension Building, corner of 13th Street and Central Avenue.
Anyone 60 years and older can register for a card by paying a $3 fee. The card allows seniors to get discounts at over 140 businesses in Madison County.

Training exercise Friday at PHHS
Madison County Health Department, working with local police, fire, EMS, hospital and emergency management, will conduct a training exercise at Pendleton Heights High School on Friday.
This event will qualify Madison County Health Department to receive additional state funds to augment the local preparedness program, according to a press release.
This exercise should go a long way to ensuring the community that Madison County is prepared for a potential terrorism event, organizers said in the press release. Exercises and drills give participants a chance to evaluate the strengths and weaknesses of response plans.

Crime investigation workshop canceled
The crime investigation workshop scheduled for this Saturday at the Pendleton Community Library has been canceled due to the sudden illness of the presenter, according to Arlene Shannon, program/community outreach specialist at the library.
Library officials hope to reschedule the seminar in the fall.

Crime Watch meetings set for Tuesday
A Salvation Army Crime Watch meeting will be held at 6 p.m. Tuesday at the Salvation Army Citadel, 1615 Meridian St. Residents, businesses, churches, etc., located in the general vicinity of 14th Street south to 23rd Street between Lincoln Street and Central Avenue are encouraged to attend. A Crime Watch meeting for the Brentwood/Nichol Avenue neighborhood is scheduled at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Head Start, 2010 Brentwood Drive. For more information, call Stan Young at (765) 648-6700.

Summer style show May 20
Anderson University will present a special Summer Style Show as a part of the 2007-08 Town and Gown series of events on Tuesday, May 20, at noon in the Olt Student Center.
During the event, the 2008 Wanda Savage Award will be presented. The award is named in honor of Wanda Savage, a longtime member of Town and Gown, who died in November 1998. Wanda’s husband, Russell, desired to find a way to remember his wife and established an annual award in her honor.
The style show will feature fashions from Escapades Boutique. Entrepreneur and boutique owner Cheryl Pearson is dedicated to the idea that women should be able to find fun gorgeous fashion, according to a press release.
The cost for the event is $10. Contact the AU office of Development at (765) 641-4029 to make reservations. Reservations are required by Friday.
