‘Chickens for Charity’ Thursday at YMCA
“Chickens for Charity” will be served from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Thursday at the YMCA, 28 W. 12th St., Anderson. The menu will include barbecued chicken, two side dishes and a drink for $7. Delivery available upon request and those arrangements can be made when purchasing tickets. Call Jean Stiers at (765) 617-0670 or Kevin Crawford at (765) 620-3119. The meal is sponsored by Anderson Noon Lions Club diabetic education committee, Saint John’s Medical Center, Community Hospital, Edgewater Woods, Phillippe Water, Stiers Gravel, Sam’s Char-Cart BBQ, WHBU-AM 1240.
All proceeds benefit local diabetic education programs.
Triad to meet with Lanane, Reske
Madison County Triad will meet at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the Anderson Library. Speakers will be state Sen. Tim Lanane, District 25, and state Rep. Scott Reske, District 37. Ed Leonard, chief of staff for the Madison County Prosecutor’s Office, will be at the meeting to talk about the role of Adult Protective Services. It is Leonard’s position that there will be a lot of improvements made this year in the way seniors will be treated, according to a press release from Triad.
‘Beyond the Ashes’ concert canceled
The “Beyond the Ashes” concert set for Friday at First Friends Church, 2233 S. Central Way, has been canceled.
Austin to speak at East Side Club
State Rep. Terri J. Austin, District 36, will speak to the East Side Community Club on Thursday at Olt Student Center, Anderson University. She will give a state legislative update with an emphasis on tax laws enacted at the recent legislative session and their effect on the community. The public is invited to hear the presentation at 7:15 p.m. in the Edwards Dining Room. Members of the East Community Club encourage people involved in education, business, public service and church activities on Anderson’s east side to attend. The East Side Community Club has promoted the interests of the residents of Anderson since its founding in 1926. The club is open to all members of the community who live, work, or have an interest in the east side, which roughly includes everything north of White River and east of Killbuck Creek to the edge of the suburban area. The club holds dinner meetings monthly, September to May, at AU for fellowship and to discuss projects to improve the community.
Greater Grace has appreciation services
The 17th annual Pastor & Wife Appreciation at Greater Grace Temple Apostolic Church, 914 S. Madison Ave., will get under way tonight with an altar prayer at 7 p.m. followed by services at 7:30 p.m. Honored will be Suffragan Bishop Jerry D. Wright, Ph.D., and First Lady Evangelist Josephine Wright. Today’s guests include Elder Aaron Woodson, pastor of Gethesemane Apostolic Church, Indianapolis; choir and congregation; Elder Earl Isom, pastor of Ebenezer Apostolic Church, Anderson. Thursday’s and Friday’s services will have an altar prayer at 7 p.m. and services beginning at 7:30 p.m. Thursday’s guests include Elder Carlos Smith, pastor; True Mercies Ministries, Indianapolis; choir and congregation. Musical guest will be Bethany Tabernacle, New Castle. Friday’s guests include Suffragan Bishop E.C. Haywood, pastor, Christ Temple Apostolic Church, Fort Wayne.
