Glad Tidings hosts events for dads
Glad Tidings Assembly of God at 815 E. School St., will have a two-day celebration for Father’s Day beginning Saturday from 1:30 to 4 p.m. with a father-son cookout grilling New York strip steaks with all the trimmings. The ladies of the church will be providing trimmings along with desserts. During the Sunday morning worship service a special time is planned for fathers. Central Christian offers lunch, ‘Worship and Wonder’
The Rev. Vale’s sermon series tying Biblical messages to vintage TV themes continues this week with “Lessons from Genesis: Mission Impossible.” All are welcome. Included in worship music this week is Dr. Randy Frieling’s Offertory, “Canon in D” (Pachelbel). Thursday, the church will host a preview of the “Worship and Wonder” program for 3 to 8-year-olds that begins in September. This free demonstration will be at 7 p.m. at the church. In August, Central Christian will host a three-day training session open to other churches interested in implementing this format for children’s worship. Whetstone hosts Vacation Bible School
Whetstone Christian Church, 5940 Madison Ave., invites all children ages 3 through grade six for Son World Adventure Park Vacation Bible School from 6 to 8:30 p.m. nightly June 22-26. Activities will include singing, skits, crafts, snacks, games and much more. Mitchel Jon to perform at West Cross Alliance
West Cross Alliance Church will be hosting a gospel concert, June 21. Mitchel Jon, former lead singer of Three Bridges, has started a solo career and songwriting career. His songs have been recorded by several southern gospel artists. While singing with Three Bridges, the group performed two No. 1 singles and six top 20 hits. Mitchel Jon’s soulful vocal edge and grass roots personality has created a wide and varied fan base. The concert is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m., June 21. The public is welcome to attend and no tickets are necessary. Donations to the artist will replace an admission fee. West Cross Alliance Church is located at 3102 W. Cross St., Anderson. Father’s Day service Sunday at Elwood Bible Baptist
Elwood Bible Baptist Church, 504 N. 12th Street, Elwood, will have special services on Father’s Day at 10 and 11 a.m. Special guests The New England Baptist College Ensemble, from Southington, Conn., will provide special music. The speaker for both services will be Dr. Jim Townsley, author of the book, “A Heart For The Home.” Dr. Townsley is pastor of Central Baptist Church and president of New England Baptist College. United in Christ hosts Father’s Day service, dinner
United In Christ Church, 720 E. Seventh St., Anderson, will host a Father’s Day celebration at this Sunday’s service at noon. Pastor Louis C. Jackson, Jr. and the congregation invite everyone to the service and to a dinner that will immediately follow. The church will also be hosting their Sunday night youth service, The Gathering, at 6 p.m., Sunday.

Restoration Fellowship Ministries begins Building Vision services
Beginning at 5 p.m. Sunday and continuing each Sunday for the month, Restoration Fellowship Ministries will host Building Vision services. Services will be held at 4100 S. Main St., formerly South United Methodist Church. All are welcome to worship as the church plans to relocate to this location. Dr. Leonard Scott and The Rock Community Church of Indianapolis will the guests Sunday, followed by Pastors G.E. and Wanda Studdard and Harvest Prayer Center of Indianapols on Sunday, June 22. Pastoral anniversary celebration June 17-20
The third pastoral anniversary celebration for Pastor Eddie and First Lady Deborah Robinson of Christ Temple Apostolic Church will be June 17-20 and 22. Chesterfield Christian hosts Father’s Day, other events
Chesterfield Christian Church Disciples of Christ, 207 E. Plum St., will observe Father’s Day at the 9:30 a.m. worship service. An all men’s choir will provide special music, and each father present will be honored. Chris Ritchie, tenor, will sing “You Raise Me Up,” arranged by Graham. Pastor Ned Clark will be preaching from Genesis 18:16-33 with a message entitled, “A Father’s Intercession.” The church is also hosting a bowling party at Cooper’s on Friday 7 p.m. The cost will be $1 per game, $1 for shoes. There is a sign-up sheet available in the church narthex. The Creations Childcare is teaming with the local Cub Scout pack for a children’s clothing rummage sale on Saturday, June 21. Donations may be brought to the church through Friday. No adult clothing will be accepted. If you need help transporting donations or have questions please call the church office, call (765) 378-7896. Funfest 2008 is being planned by the evangelism committee to be held at the church on July 4. There will be free food, music, street dancing, soft drinks and door prizes. Those who have been affiliated with the Chesterfield Christian Church 50 years or more will be honored Sunday, July 13. The Christian Women’s Fellowship’s June service project is Dove Harbor here in Anderson. There are many items needed and more information is available through the church office.
Pendleton Christian hosts Power Lab
Pendleton Christian Church has the answer to summertime boredom — send your kids to Power Lab, where they will learn about Jesus’s miraculous power. The vacation Bible school will be held June 16-20, 9 a.m. to noon. Children will take part in Bible learning with a science twist. They will enjoy outdoor recreation, tasty snacks, lively Bible songs and science crafts. Kids may get messy, and parents are encouraged to send them in play clothes and safe shoes. Parents, relatives and friends are invited on Sunday, June 22 for the VBS finale, followed by a PCC Power Lab adventure with jumpy balloons, snacks and science crafts. Children who are potty-trained and will be 4 by Aug. 1, 2008 through 4th grade (just finished) are welcome.

Valley Grove homecoming June 22
Valley Grove Free Will Baptist Church, 2996 E. Indiana 236, Anderson, will have its annual homecoming June 22 at 10 a.m. Brother Robert Helms will be preaching at the 11 a.m. service and the Moles Family from Muncie will be singing after lunch. All those that formerly attended our church and all visitors are welcome to attend.
New Zion Fellowship plans Father’s Day service
The New Zion Fellowship Church, 304 W. 11th St., will sponsor a Father’s Day service at 4:30 p.m. Sunday. The service will feature Brother James L. Warner Sr. and company, Sister Pat Raymore and the Gospel Music Workshop and guest choirs from other churches as well as the very newest gospel group in town. Rev. Victor L. Richardson is pastor of the church.
New Hope celebrates Father’s Day
All fathers of Anderson and surrounding communities are invited to celebrate Father’s Day with New Hope United Methodist Church, 812 W. 13th St., at 10 a.m. Sunday. The Rev. Reginald E. Lee is senior pastor of the church and Rev. Doris Winford associate pastor.
East Lynn to honor dads
Sunday at the 9:15 a.m. worship service, East Lynn Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), 522 E. 53rd St., will honor all the men in the congregation in recognition of Father’s Day. Each man present will receive a gift during the Children’s Moment. Senior Minister Rev. Susan M. Cameron will deliver the sermon, “Living in the Mud,” based on Matthew 5:43-48 and Ephesians 4:25 - 5:2. Special music will be provided by Bob and Tom Claypool.
Trinity Community Vacation Bible School set
Vacation Bible School will be June 23-27 at Trinity Community Church, 13801 W. Main St. Children ages pre-K through grade 6 are invited to attend.
