N. Liberty ‘Praise in the Park’ Aug. 3
The Westside Community Church of God in Christ and New Liberty Church of God in Christ will have its fourth annual “Praise in the Park” on Sunday, Aug. 3, from 3 to 5 p.m. at Jackson Park, Raible Avenue, Anderson.
Singing, preaching and praising will be the main theme. The public is invited to attend.

Aroma UMC event for new pastor
Aroma United Methodist Church, located at 16301 E. 281st St., Atlanta will be hosting a open house/welcome pitch-in dinner for the new pastor and his wife; David Kyle and Sharon immediately following service on July 27. Details will follow. Sunday School is held at 9:30 a.m. The six-week study on “Love” will continue. Coffee and refreshments are served between Sunday School and Worship.
Pastor Dave Kyle will continue his two-part sermon on “Gifts” based on 1Corinithians: 14.

Elwood Baptist to host ‘Fun in Sun’

Tribute Quartet in concert Thursday
The Tribute Quartet will be in concert on Thursday at Westview Church of the Nazarene, Indiana 38, New Castle.
The concert will take place at 7 p.m. Cost is $6 at the door and a love offering will be taken at intermission.

Coolidge to play for Sunday service
Shirley Coolidge, past honoree of Anderson University’s Outstanding Music Alumni award, will be the organist Sunday at Central Christian Church at 10 a.m. in the sanctuary for the service.
The Rev. Rick Vale will be commissioning Destiny Caldwell, Anna Custer, Deanna Rhodes, Darius Rhodes and Morgan Westrater for their upcoming week at Barbee Christian Camp in Leesburg. Past Central Christian campers this summer were Austin Crusmire and Pastor Vale.

The mini-revival set for today and Sunday at the Anderson Church of God of Prophecy, 3029 Mounds Road, has been canceled.
Bethel UMC hosts VBS Beach Party
Bethel UM Church invites all children to ride the wave of God’s love at summer Vacation Bible School Beach Party: Surfin’ Through the Scriptures. The fun begins July 28 and ends Aug. 1. Supper will be served at 5:30 p.m. daily. VBS begins at 6 p.m. This program is a celebration of God’s love and a chance for children (and adults alike) to learn new Beach Be-Attitudes. Meet at the corner of 38th Street and Layton Road in Anderson on July 28 to be a part of the beach party. Chesterfield church greets new pianist
The Chesterfield Christian Church Disciples of Christ, 207 E. Plum St., welcomes its new pianist, Linda Barton. She has served as an accompanist for various choirs in Indiana and Florida. She also teaches mathematics at Ball State University. She will accompany the Chancel Choir as well as the various youth choirs and soloists at Chesterfield Christian. Soloists at the 9:30 a.m. worship service Sunday will be Chris Ritchie and Jordyn Friend. Pastor Ned Clark will use Romans 8:12-27 for his message titled, “Members of God’s Family of Hope.”
The Ambassador Sunday School class is sponsoring a recycling paper bin to raise money for special projects. The bin is located at the west end of the church’s parking lot. They are accepting newspapers, magazines and other paper products, but no cardboard. Vacation Bible School will be Aug. 3-7, 5:30-8:30 p.m. for all children ages five through 12.
Masri to discuss Islam, Christianity
Madison Park Church of God welcomes Fouad Masri as guest speaker Sunday at 9 and 10:45 a.m. Author and lecturer Masri grew up in the war zone of Beirut, Lebanon, and is the founder of Crescent Project, a ministry dedicated to sharing the message of Christ with Muslims. Blackford sings at Cross Roads UMC
Cheryl Blackford will be singing at the 8 and 10 a.m. worship services at Cross Roads United Methodist Church, 2000 N. Scatterfield Road, Anderson. Brian McFee and friends will be special guest singers at the 10 a.m. service.

Warrington church VBS begins Sunday
Vacation Bible School will be held Sunday through Wednesday at the Warrington Church of the Nazarene, 8381 N. Nashville Road, Wilkinson. “Galilee by the Sea” will be the theme of Lone Oak Wesleyan’s Vacation Bible School Monday through Friday for children ages 4 to 12. The hours are 6 to 8 p.m. nightly. The church is located at 486 N. 500W.
Purvis in concert at East Lynn church
Anderson native Rick Purvis will present a concert at East Lynn Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), 522 E. 53rd St., at 1 p.m. Sunday. He will be accompanied by Dawn Elston, and the concert will feature classical, religious and Broadway music. Purvis earned a master’s degree in voice from the Indiana University School of Music. This spring he sang the lead in “South Pacific” at Footlight Musicals. He is the son of Pearl Purvis. Purvis will also present the special music at the 10:30 a.m. worship. Rev. Susan M. Cameron, senior minister, will preach on “The GREAT Commandment: Love! Just Love!” based on John 15:9-17 and Matthew 22:34-42. A pitch-in dinner will follow the service and precede the concert.

Central Community Church, 1004 Indiana Ave., will have a Roger’s Rally open mic at 6:30 p.m. Saturday, July 26.
A hamburger fry will be from 4 to 6 p.m. with a free will offering.
6th annual Soul’d Out on Aug. 1

Pastor Fuller, wife head to Ill. church
Pastor John Fuller has accepted the pastorate at Trinity Assembly of God in Olive Branch, Ill.
Fuller is a 1979 graduate of Shenandoah High School. He is the son of Lyman and Patty Fuller of Anderson.
