Unity Church thrift sale to be Saturday
Unity Church, 4225 Mounds Road, will have a rummage sale from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, a fundraiser for the church’s remodeling project. Household items, clothing and other miscellaneous items will be offered for sale.
Elwood to honor Olympic swimmers
A celebration honoring Elwood Olympian Mary Beth Dunnichay and her diving partner Haley Ishimatsu is planned from 5 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Calloway Park, N. 19th St. Music will be provided by Quincy’s Brass Band, Overruled and Vinyl Groove. There will be face painting, balloons, corn bag toss tournament and refreshments. Dunnichay and Ishimatsu will both be in attendance, and a video of Mary Beth diving will be shown.
Garden Club set to meet Monday
The Pendleton Garden Club will hold its monthly meeting at 7 p.m. Monday at the Conservation Building in Falls Park, 520 Falls Park Drive, Pendleton. It will be the club’s annual picnic. Attendees are asked to bring a covered dish and plate and flatware. The activity will be a white elephant auction. Bring garden-related items (value of $3 or more) wrapped or unwrapped. The public is invited.
Donations for Red Cross accepted
Edgewater Woods, 1809 N. Madison Ave., Anderson, is taking cash donations for the Red Cross. Collection receptacles are at the nurses’ stations, front desk and in several offices for donations to the Red Cross for those flood victims in Indiana. Office hours are from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. The facility will host a blood drive from 8 to 11:30 a.m. Monday, July 28. There will also be raffles going on in the building to help benefit the Alzheimer's Association Memory Walk.
Band’s bake sale, car wash, Sunday
The Highland High School marching band will have a car wash and bake sale Sunday from noon to 5 p.m. at the Chesterfield Fire Department. All proceeds benefit the band.
