Coming Out Day at Mount Pilgrim

Sunday Mount Pilgrim Church Men of Integrity, 615 Henry St., will host its Coming Out Day during the morning and afternoon services. The morning worship service festivities will begin with church school at 9:30 a.m. followed by doughnuts, coffee and juice at 10:30 a.m. with morning worship at 11 a.m. The Men of Integrity will provide special music for the morning service and Pastor Thomas J. Robinson will be the speaker. Dinner will be served at Mount Pilgrim Fellowship Hall immediately after morning worship. Special guest for the 3 p.m. afternoon services will be the Rev. W.C. Edwards and New Hope Baptist Church, Muncie and congregation.

Christ Temple has Senior Citizen Day

Christ Temple Church, 1610 W. 22nd St., will celebrate Senior Citizen Day at 4 p.m. Sunday. Guest speaker will be Evangelist Josephine Wright of Greater Grace, Anderson. The choir will be from Temple of Praise of CTC Anderson. A choir service is planned at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 4 with guest speaker Elder Tim Harris of Turning Point, Indianapolis and the church’s choir.

Blessing of Tools at East Lynn

On this Labor Day weekend, the worship service at East Lynn Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), 522 E. 53rd St., will include the annual Blessing of the Tools. Every worshiper is invited to bring something he or she uses (a tool) in everyday life. The Rev. Susan M. Cameron will preach the sermon entitled, “All for You, Lord .... All for You!” based on Luke 6:38 and 1 Corinthians 10:23-31. The public is invited.

Elmore to sing Sept. 6 at church

Local artist, singer and songwriter Dave Elmore will be featured at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 6 at Alexandria Cornerstone Community Church. Elmore has completed three CDs and has performed for many churches, fairs and other organizations throughout Indiana, Ohio and Tennessee. He plays the keyboard and sings in a southern gospel style.

Greater Joy to sing at Central Christian

Central Christian, of 10th and Jackson streets, will feature the gospel quartet Greater Joy Sunday. Members Mary Cloud, Ron Martin, Dick Smith and Susan Sporinsky will compliment the service with “Down by the River,” “I Saw a Man,” and “May the Lord Bless You and Keep You.” Dr. Randy Freiling's Postlude will be "Allegro" (Walona) on the sanctuary pipe organ.  Due to the holiday, there will be no Monday evening Bible Study on Sept. 1. 

Labor Day Picnic at Grace Baptist

Grace Baptist Church, 432 W. 300 N. (Hartman Road), will be host its annual Labor Day Picnic beginning at 9 a.m. today. Tenderloins, grilled by a resident “chef,” have become a signature of Grace’s picnic. 

Special attractions at the picnic include a petting zoo, fishing derby, volleyball, softball, canoe rides, wagon rides, gold dollar dive, great food, and snow cones. Bring your friends and family to join in the activities of the day. The church is located at 432 W. 300N (Hartman Road). 

Sebastian to speak at AU Tuesday

Anderson University School of Theology will have its opening chapel Tuesday with David Sebastian, dean, preaching in Miller Chapel at 11 a.m. Students David Aukerman will lead worship, and Megan Fetter will read scripture. Arlo Newell will serve as Chaplain.
