Pendleton library to host book sale
The Friends of the Pendleton Community Public Library will host an annual book sale from 9 to 6 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 5, and from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 6. The sale will be at the library. A variety of items will be available, ranging from popular adult fiction, nonfiction, children’s books, videocassettes and paperbacks. Everything is priced at $1 or less. The group will also be on hand to sell its colorful library book bags.
Neighborhood sale helps Project Linus
Project Linus of Madison County is sponsoring a neighborhood yard and craft sale at the Ashbury Pointe Apartments (west of Pendleton Heights High School off Angle Road) on Saturday, Sept. 20, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. In case of rain the sale will be held on Saturday, Sept. 27, at the same time. Items for sale will include clothing, children’s toys, books, junior air hockey table, household items and furniture. The sale will also include homemade baked goods including cookies, breads, cakes, candy, cold drinks, lunch, etc., in the air-conditioned Community Room. The Ladies of the Ashbury Pointe Old-Fashioned Sewing Bee will be displaying quilts the members have made. Some of these will be for sale with proceeds going to the Linus Project.
Alexandria Library closed Labor Day
The Alexandria Library will be closed on Monday in observance of Labor Day. Also, the library will be undergoing routine computer maintenance on Tuesday. Patrons are advised that there may be interruptions to computer service on that day.
VFW Auxiliary to have Western night
The Veterans of Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliary Post 266, 3210 Columbus Ave., Anderson, is having a Western Night on Saturday, Sept. 6.
Bob’s Liquor Lounge will perform from 7 to 11 p.m. There will be a $10 charge, which includes dinner, one drink, and four chances for $25 drawings during band hours. From 6 to 7 p.m., the menu includes barbecue sandwich, baked beans, cole slaw and chips.
Breakfast to aid school’s baseball
The Daleville Lions Club Community Breakfast will be held Saturday, Sept. 6, from 7 to 10 a.m. at the Lions Club Building, Sixth and Edwards streets, Daleville. Cost is $6 per person and children under 6, eat free. The menu includes eggs and sausage, biscuits and sausage gravy, pancakes, coffee, milk and orange juice. Proceeds from the breakfast will benefit the Daleville High School baseball team. A breakfast is held the first Saturday of each month.
