Get ready for kindergarten
Getting Ready for Kindergarten, a kindergarten readiness event for 4- and 5-year-olds and their parents, will be held Friday at 1 p.m. in the Chief Anderson Room of the Anderson Public Library.
Participants will:
— Gain information on skills and behaviors needed for beginning kindergarten
— Learn fun and simple activities to promote readiness
— Receive materials and resources to help at home
Another session will be held Monday at 6 p.m. at the same location.
The event is sponsored by Anderson Community Schools and the Born Learning Initiative of Madison County.

State of county will feature mayors
Leadership Academy of Madison County Alumni Association will present The State of the County from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Robert Loose Carriage House Community Room, 200 W. 53rd St., Anderson.
Guests for the evening will include Mayor Jack Woods, Alexandria; Mayor Kris Ockomon, Anderson; Mayor Merrill Taylor, Elwood; Gary Shuck, Lapel; and Don Henderson, Pendleton.
There is no cost for the evening, but a reservation is required by Friday to Pam Shoot at (765) 641-4050 or pshoot@anderson.edu.
Junior class to host chicken noodle dinner
The Daleville High School Junior Class will host a chicken noodles dinner Friday from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. in the high school cafeteria. The dinner is a fundraiser for the Spring ’09 prom. Cost is $7 per person; kids under 5 can eat free.
