ANDERSON, Ind. — A compilation of local news briefs as published in the Thursday edition of The Herald Bulletin.

Dance flash mob Saturday at track

ANDERSON — The National Dance Week Flash Mob with dancers (parents and friends) of Bonnie & Sheri’s Dance will be held at Hoosier Park (outside track side) on Saturday at 4:45 p.m.

National Dance Week is celebrated April 26-May 3.

Alex Shred Day will be on Saturday

ALEXANDRIA — The Alexandria Community Shred Day will be held from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday.

After filing taxes from last year, feel free to bring any and all documents you need properly disposed of.  Drop-off will be coordinated in the parking lot across from the Alexandria-Monroe Public Library.

There is no charge.

Newspaper hosts blood drive Tuesday

ANDERSON — The Herald Bulletin, 1133 Jackson St., will host a community blood drive from 1 to 5 p.m. Tuesday.

The Bloodmobile will be parked in the newspaper’s lower parking lot behind the building.

Appointments may be made by going to or by calling Tammy Everitt at 648-4242.

‘Get Active’ program begins Friday

ANDERSON — The Anderson’s Parks & Recreation Department will present “Get Active! Get Fit!,” a free program for children 6 to 12 years old.

The six-week total body workout includes stretching, running and exercising and begins Friday at 5 p.m. and runs through May 31 at the Geater Center, 1611 Chase St.

Participants need to bring a water bottle, towel and dress in appropriate work-out attire.

Legion serving Saturday breakfast

DALEVILLE — The Daleville American Legion Post 446, 14708 W. Sixth St., will host an all-you-can-eat breakfast on Saturday from 7 to 10 a.m.

The menu includes biscuits and gravy, sausage, bacon, hash browns and scrambled eggs. Cost for meal is $6 for adults and $3 for children.

Fish dinner served Saturday at Legion

LAPEL — The Lapel American Legion will have an all-you-can-eat fish dinner Saturday from 5 to 7 p.m. Price is $8. The menu includes deep-fried Alaskan pollock, French fries, cole slaw, baked beans, corn cakes, dessert, tea and coffee.

Aktion Club sponsors dinner

ANDERSON — The Kiwanis Aktion Club will sponsor a spaghetti dinner from 4 to 7:30 p.m. Friday at Parkview Nazarene Church, 911 Rangeline Road. This is a fundraiser for the group.

The meal will include two servings of spaghetti, two servings of garlic bread, dessert and drinks. Cost is $5 for adults, $2.50 for children ages 5-12 and those under the age of 4 eat free.

Kidz Marathon  sign-up is May 1

ANDERSON — The Kidz Marathon, co-sponsored by St. Vincent Anderson Regional Hospital and the Anderson Family YMCA, will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 18, at Anderson University.

Registration forms must be turned into the YMCA by May 1.
