Ash Wednesday service at First UM

ANDERSON — First United Methodist Church, 1215 Jackson St., invites the community to join the congregation in commemorating the beginning of the Lenten season with an Ash Wednesday service.

The service will begin in the sanctuary at 7 p.m. Wednesday.

Grant funds available

ANDERSON — Through a grant awarded by the Susan G. Komen Foundation, Community Hospital Anderson has funding available to cover screenings (clinical breast exams and mammograms), diagnostics (MRIs, biopsies, ultrasounds) and other treatment assistance to support low-income patients who would otherwise not be able to afford it.

Women who are uninsured or underinsured and need to receive these screenings should call 298-1617 by March 15 for more information.

Have fun with glass art at Minnetrista

MUNCIE — Personalize a wine glass design for use or display in the Minnetrista Glass Workshop: Wine Glass Etching on March 13, from 6 to 9 p.m. Register by March 10.

Glass keepsakes can be customized with stencils, monograms and personal décor, for a unique take-home piece or personalized gift.

Cost per attendee is $25. Member discounts apply. Minnetrista workshops are open to participants ages 12 and older.

Red Hatters to meet at Grace Place

ANDERSON —The March meeting of the WOW Red Hatters of Madison County will be Saturday at Grace Place, 2135 N. Scatterfield Road, (former Barr-Rich Appliance building).

Lunch will be at 2 p.m. featuring food from Concannon’s in Muncie.

Ash Wednesday service planned

ANDERSON — St. Matthew United Methodist Church, 1512 N. Madison Ave., will offer a traditional Ash Wednesday service at 7 p.m.

Pastor Mark Helm will deliver a message followed by the imposition of ashes. Special music will be provided by Kaye Koomler. The public is invited to attend Wednesday’s service that marks the beginning of the Lenten season.

Photo exhibit a tribute to Indiana

ALEXANDRIA — John Bower, Hoosier photographer, will present “Lingering Spirit — A tribute to Indiana’s fading, forlorn, and forgotten places,” at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Alexandria-Monroe Public Library, 117 E. Church St.
