---- — Trash pickup schedule adjusted

ANDERSON — Because of weather conditions, the collection schedules for the Anderson division of Best Way Disposal are being adjusted.

Collection for residents of Anderson, Chesterfield, Pendleton or Alexandria with normal Monday or Tuesday collection will be attempted today. Residents are asked to hold their trash for next week if it is not at the curb already.

Anderson and Pendleton residents with regularly scheduled Wednesday collection will be picked up today.

Collection of Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday routes for subscription customers living outside of city or town limits will not be attempted. Best Way will make a double pickup for all customers from these routes next week.

Muncie tea party to meet Monday

MUNCIE — The Muncie 9.12 Tea Party will meet from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Monday, Jan. 13, at the Kennedy Library, 1700 W. McGalliard Road, Muncie.

The group will be looking at the political structure of the nation, state, county, city, township and precincts and their importance to the direction of the country.

The public is invited to attend.

Food bank meeting set for Jan. 23

MUNCIE — Second Harvest Food Bank will host its annual meeting from 5 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 23, in the Second Harvest Community Room, 6621 N. Old Indiana 3, Muncie.

Recognitions will be made for agencies, volunteers and board members.

N. Madison tea party meets on Thursday

ALEXANDRIA — The North Madison County Tea Party will have its regular meeting at 6:30 p.m. Thursday in the Emery Lee Auditorium at Beulah Park (4-H grounds).

Speaker will be Sam Hanna, candidate for Madison County sheriff, and a film entitled "The Clinton Chronicles" will be shown. A discussion will follow.

Meetings canceled in Pendleton

PENDLETON — The Pendleton Plan Commission meeting scheduled for today and the Board of Zoning Appeals set for Jan. 21 has been canceled because of lack of business.

Assistance day rescheduled

ANDERSON — First United Methodist Church has rescheduled today's January Emergency Assistance Day and Helping Hands Non-Food Pantry to Wednesday, Jan. 15, because of the inclement weather.

Abundance meals canceled until March

MARKLEVILLE —The monthly Abundance meals at East Christian Church have been canceled for January and February. Meals will start up again in March unless the weather is bad.

Watch for more information in the newspapers. March's meal will be chicken and noodles, mashed potatoes, green beans, applesauce, roll, desserts and drink with a free will offering accepted.

FEMA rejects appeal of tornado aid request

INDIANAPOLIS — The federal government has rejected Indiana's appeal seeking federal aid for six counties hit by tornadoes and other severe weather in November.

The state Department of Homeland Security said Tuesday the Federal Emergency Management Agency had denied the state's appeal seeking federal aid for Boone, Daviess, Fountain, Grant, Howard and Tippecanoe counties.
